I love working as a speech and language therapist and have enjoyed a varied career since qualifying in 2007. I graduated with an MSc in Speech and Language Therapy from City University and I also have an MA in English Literature and Language from University College London.

I started my career working for Hounslow Primary Care Trust and was involved in setting up and running a specialist centre for Autistic children in a mainstream primary school. I also ran a preschool clinic and provided speech and language training for school staff.

After my first child was born I set up my own practice and now work with schools and individual families in London and Essex. I am focused on child centered and holistic approaches and I enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Since graduating I have gained further specialist knowledge in shape coding and supporting children with Developmental Language Disorder. I have also undertaken post graduate training and have experience in working with Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia or Childhood Apraxia of Speech as it is sometimes called.

I have a BA Hons in Primary Education and a Masters in Speech and Language Therapy.

Since qualifying from University of Essex in 2017 I have gained experience with children with severely complex needs. This has supported me to develop an ethos towards therapy where I look for what children ‘can’ do and support them to develop those skills.

Working with people with complex needs and early communicators has given me the opportunity to create and implement high and low tech AAC. I enjoy supporting schools and families to ensure AAC is incorporated into every day life. Experience with vast physical complex needs has encouraged me to be creative with access methods.

I am a PRO-ACT SCIPr instructor, which is a positive behaviour support strategy focused on proactive management of behaviour to help avoid needing reactive crisis management.

Behaviour as communication is something I am deeply passionate about. I support families to find reasons behind behaviours  and patterns in them occurring. I work hard with families to put as much communication and visual supports in place to help reduce behaviours.

I am eager to keep up to date with new developments in the field and enjoy putting these into practice.
